Back in the Chair—Reflections on Leadership, Connection, and Community

I’m thrilled to return as a Chapter Chair for the Women Presidents Organization, serving women business leaders in the Capital Region of New York. What makes this return even more meaningful is the opportunity to collaborate with two fellow Chairs who also lead WPO chapters in our area. Together, we support four groups of women committed to growth, impact, and authentic leadership.

In this post, I share some personal reflections on what it means to hold space for these conversations—why I stepped away, what drew me back, and how the work continues to inspire me.

Being a Chair isn’t about giving answers. It’s about creating the space where the right questions can rise to the surface—and where leaders can find clarity in community.

My journey with WPO began in 2011 as a member. I was immediately struck by the honesty,

intelligence, and mutual respect that defined the group. For three years, I experienced first hand

what it means to grow as a leaders with the support of women . After stepping away, I returned in 2016 as a Chapter Chair, a role I held through 2021 .Now, in 2025, Ive stepped back into that role once again.

Why? Because I missed the monthly inspiration.

What I See from the Facilitators Chair

As Chair, I don't teach-I hold space. I guide the conversation, keep it focused, and ensure every voice is heard. But the real brilliance comes from the members themselves. The honesty. The

vulnerability. The strategic depth. It's unlike any other business environment I've experienced.

Each month, I witness the kind of honesty and insight that only emerge in trusted spaces.

While the conversations remain confidential, the impact is unmistakable- leaders finding clarity, drawing strength from shared experience, and leaving more grounded, focused, and inspired.

A Source of Ongoing Inspiration

When I stepped away from the Chair role, I felt the absence of those regular, meaningful

conversations. Facilitating a group of women who lead others is not just fulfilling -its energizing.

These women remind me what's possible. They're bold, thoughtful, and deeply committed not only to their businesses but to their own evolution as leaders.

Returning to this work has felt like a homecoming. It reconnects me to the rhythm of reflection,

challenge, and meaningful exchange that I believe every leader needs.

In Closing

Leadership doesn't have to be lonely. In the Women Presidents Organization, Ive seen how shared

experience becomes fuel for growth, resilience, and renewed vision. As a former member, a

longtime Chair, and now a returning facilitator, I can say this with confidence:

This work is more than meetings.

Its transformation.

And I'm grateful to be doing it-again.
