Here we go! Are you going to unwrap your new year with JOY? This is the time set your intention for the New YEAR. Setting an intention means committing to yourself.
It's a commitment to what you want your journey to be about in 2022. When you're intentional about something, your focused in the moment: who you are, what you do, why you do it.
Focus on inspiring you to be your best self without implying that anything needs to be changed. Just understand you have choice in every moment. Setting an intention will remind your brain to support your choices on this journey.
Where should you start?
If you completed the question in our last blog you already have a good list of 2021 gratitudes. If not, start by reviewing 2021 and reflect on the positive things. Take a minute and list two ways that you showed resilience, two things that brought you joy, and two things from 2021 that you are grateful for.
Reflecting on the positive is a great place to start to set our intentions. Do not think about specific goals you can measure, but ways that you wish to live.
Create a word or a short phrase that sums up your intentions. Last year my words where love, calm, joy, and grateful. These words became my mantra and helped me stay open and expand my vision of how to be my best self. I had them written down in my day planner and reflected on them weekly. When I look back, they did help me stay open and follow my heart, especially when the world was uncertain.
Here are a few questions to help your intention setting:
What do you want to cultivate more of in your life?
What is going right in your life?
What is one thing holding you back and what can you do to make it 5% better?
Well-crafted intentions give you more energy as you move toward them, even if that takes some work and effort on your part.
