What Practice Supports Your Best Self?

Updated: Mar 20, 2019

Everyday is an opportunity to make choices to be our best self. Which practice supports your vision for yourself?

I have enjoyed practicing Martin Seligman’s PERMA check-in my daily activities. The theory of wellbeing has five elements:

  • P=Positive emotions

  • E=Engagement

  • R=Relationships

  • M=Meaning

  • A=Achievement

PERMA practice is checking in on all five elements, How am I doing in each element? I rate each element 1 to 5, 5 being I am knocking it out of the park and 1 means I need some work. Once I check in on all five elements, then I decide which area would I like to work on today. I create a plan to make the one element 5% better, something easy to be scheduled into my day.

An example of something I am sure you have seen me do is discover JOY. I can pop my positive emotions in any moment by looking around and spotting something that brings me JOY. I know that in any moment I can choose JOY by looking for it. If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you will see me posting often about the pops of JOY I see in my life. This awareness of noticing the JOY that already exists in my life fills me with gratitude.

Or is is being grateful brings the JOY?

Set up a 15 minute complimentary coaching session to practice using PERMA to be your best self.
