Paws & Peace: Beach Walks with Harley in North Myrtle

For three weeks, I traded my usual daily routine for something much simpler—and infinitely better: long walks along North Myrtle Beach with my dog, Harley. Just me, him, the waves, and a whole lot of open sky.
Morning Magic
Every morning, we’d head out, the sand cool underfoot (and paw), the ocean still half-asleep. Harley trotted ahead, tail high, nose twitching, ears alert to every sound. I’m convinced he could find the most interesting people from a mile away—he’d lead me to them like a little four-legged social magnet. People couldn’t resist petting him, and honestly, neither could I.
There was something incredibly grounding about walking with Harley. He reminded me to stop, to look around, to be curious. While I was soaking up the peace of the waves and the rising sun, he was chasing smells, meeting strangers, and loving every second. Watching him enjoy life so freely made me do the same.

Afternoon Adventures
Our afternoon walks were more lively—kids building sandcastles, seagulls squawking overhead, the buzz of beachgoers. But Harley was unfazed. He’d weave us through crowds like a pro, occasionally plopping down in front of someone who looked like they needed a dog moment. He was probably right.
The Takeaway
By the end of the three weeks, our walks had become my favorite part of the day. They were more than just exercise—they were therapy, connection, presence. And Harley, in all his goofy, gentle glory, made them unforgettable.
I am heading back home sun-kissed and recharged, but more than that—I am grateful. For the quiet. For the ocean. And especially for Harley, my best little travel buddy.
